Grundfos UNILIFT AP50B – drainage pump with 50 mm free passage

Grundfos UNILIFT AP50B is a single-stage submersible pump from the AP Basic series, designed for pumping wastewater with a free passage of 50 mm. The pump is suitable for drainage, grey water, black water from toilets and applications with large particles. It is approved according to EN 12050-1 for use in lifting stations containing faecal matter.

50 mm free passage Processes particles up to 50 mm without clogging.
EN 12050-1 Approved for faecal matter stations.
Vortex impeller Reduces the risk of clogging with fibers and solid particles.

Main advantages of UNILIFT AP50B

  • 50 mm free passage for large particles and fecal matter.
  • Vortex impeller for minimal risk of clogging.
  • Approved according to EN 12050-1 for lifting stations with faecal matter.
  • All hydraulic parts made of stainless steel for long life.
  • Cooling jacket for continuous operation in partial immersion.
  • Highly reliable mechanical shaft seal with oil chamber.
  • Glass-sealed cable entry to prevent water ingress.
  • Easy access for replacing consumables – cable, float, bearing seal, impeller and rotor.

Applications

  • Pumping black water from toilets and sewage systems below the level of the sewer.
  • Drainage and drainage of rainwater from roofs, parking lots and other surfaces.
  • Pumping grey water from washing machines, sinks, showers and bathrooms.
  • Domestic wastewater from septic and sludge systems.
  • Drainage of viaducts, underpasses and other infrastructure sites.
  • Liquids containing fibers from light industry, laundry and textile applications.
  • Installation in lifting stations with auto-coupling and guide rails.
  • External pumping installations for residential and commercial properties.

Suitable liquids

  • Clean, non-aggressive water.
  • Grey wastewater from household appliances.
  • Blackwater containing fecal matter from toilets.
  • Drainage and rainwater with small impurities.
  • Liquids containing fibers and large particles up to 50 mm.
The pump is not suitable for liquids containing long fibers, flammable liquids such as oil or gasoline, or aggressive chemicals.

Installation

UNILIFT AP50B is suitable for permanent and portable installations. The pump can be installed vertically, inclined or horizontally, with the outlet opening at the highest point. It is available with a float for automatic start/stop or without a float for manual control via an external controller. It is suitable for installation on auto-coupling with guide rails in pumping stations.

When installed with a float, the level difference between start and stop is adjusted by changing the free length of the cable between the float and the pump handle. The free length should be between 100 mm and 250 mm.

Operating modes

  • Automatic mode: With float for automatic start/stop between two liquid levels.
  • Manual mode: Without float, controlled by external controller or manual on/off.
  • Single-phase pumps: With built-in thermal protection and capacitor.
  • Three-phase pumps: Without built-in protection, require an external controller with motor protection.
The UNILIFT AP50B is approved to EN 12050-1 for use in lifting stations containing faecal matter. This makes it suitable for applications where black water from toilets is pumped and a higher level of safety and reliability approval is required.

Component materials

The UNILIFT AP50B is constructed entirely of stainless steel for all hydraulic parts, which ensures exceptional strength, corrosion resistance and long service life.

Component Material Standard
Pump housing Stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304
Lifting pipe Stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304
Impeller Stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304
Pump shirt Stainless steel 1.4401 / AISI 316
Shaft (wet part) Stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304
Camps Heavy-duty, pre-lubricated ball bearings -
O-rings NBR rubber -
Screws Stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304
Oil Shell Ondina X420 -
Cable Neoprene (H07RN8-F) -

Advantages of materials

  • AISI 304 stainless steel: High corrosion resistance and strength for all main hydraulic components.
  • Stainless steel AISI 316: The pump jacket is made of higher grade stainless steel for additional protection against corrosion.
  • Vortex impeller: Reduces the risk of clogging with fibers and large particles and provides a free passage of 50 mm.
  • Mechanical shaft seal with oil chamber: Protects seals and motor from water ingress and extends service life.
  • Heavy-duty bearings: Pre-lubricated and sealed for long life and quiet operation.
  • Neoprene cable: High quality, waterproof cable, suitable for submersible work.
All materials that come into contact with water are approved for use with clean, grey and black wastewater. For aggressive environments, consultation with Grundfos is recommended for a suitable version.
